One of the highlights of a stay at The Haven Resort at Sussex Inlet in past times was a beautiful secluded beach right outside our door on the inlet . It was a favourite place for our guests to swim, sunbake and fish. Unfortunately a number of years ago the beach was washed away and access to the water from the Resort became very difficult. Fishing and swimming from the beach was impossible.
Now the beach is back
Thanks to fantastic restoration work by Shoalhaven City Council we now have easy access to a new beach for our members. Some work still remains to complete the project and further sand build up will occur but as you can see from the Photos it will be a wonderful addition to our resort.
The Haven Resort at Sussex Inlet is set deep inside Conjola National Park in a Rainforest setting. It is one of the few places in Australia where you can step out of rainforest directly onto the beach. Once there you have spectacular views of the inlet. Trophy flathead were caught of this beach in past times and are still regularly sighted in the crystal clear water running past the Haven.
The beach has a northerly aspect and is protected from Southerlies by the resort and rainforest. On several recent warm winters days guests were on the beach soaking up the sun.
We will also be purchasing some Kayaks for leisure and fishing directly off the new beach, fishing boats for guests use and installing a swimming pool (subject to final Council Approval expected by the end of August).
We anticipate these facilities will be in place before Christmas and excitingly there are still some Christmas Holiday vacancies at The Haven.
